The Opportunity - Already Winning with Targeting

UNIONBAY was already a Checkmate success story. Targeting had quickly become one of the brand's most efficient acquisition channels, driving ~3% of total ecommerce revenue by reaching high-intent shoppers at the right moment.

 
The next question was a natural one: how do we get those shoppers to come back? With Targeting already converting strongly, the team wanted to layer a loyalty mechanic on top, without adding cost, complexity, or another tool to manage.

Solution

In March 2026, UNIONBAY launched Checkmate Cashback. The goal was simple: give every shopper a reason to return. Once Checkmate's Cashback Widget was live on the checkout page, every shopper, regardless of acquisition channel, became eligible for a $5 cashback offer redeemable on their next UNIONBAY purchase.

 
For shoppers already receiving a personalized Targeting discount, Cashback stacked on top, layering a return incentive over the offer they had just unlocked.

 
The mechanic was straightforward. Shoppers earned real money back on their first qualifying purchase, redeemable on their next order. A single transaction became a loyalty loop.

 
On top of that, UNIONBAY was now featured across Redemption Flow and Featured Picks inside Checkmate's network, putting the brand in front of 100M+ active shoppers and unlocking net-new revenue.
